Evans has just made online shopping even easier. Now you can try before you buy by dressing up your personal avatar in a virtual fitting room... our Style Has No Size editor tries it on for size.
Evans and Metail have joined forces to be amongst the first in the industry to create a virtual fitting room, where you can try before you buy using your very own personalized avatar to model for you. I’m a well known techno-phobe, so took on the brief to test it with some trepidation, but the experience left me a happy convert!
BUILDING YOUR VIRTUAL SELF IS EASY
Simply find the product you want to try on using the handy “try me on” icons. You’re then asked to add your vital statistics: height, weight, bra size, followed by waist and hip measurements. Then you choose your Me-Model from five avatars. I pick the most similar one to me – she’s got olive skin and wavy shoulder-length hair – you can even decide to have her hair up or down. Click, and suddenly there’s a computer-generated Me-Model. Hello, mini me. All in under 30 seconds. Then you’re ready to shop.
WHAT IS IT?
A virtual fitting room where your personal avatar can try on items and you can see how they look on you.
WHY WILL I LOVE IT?
It takes the guesswork out of shopping as you can see whether styles and colours work for your shape and colouring before you buy them, as well as experiment with styling by mixing and matching different items. Not to mention it's quick, easy and fun to use.
HOW DO I USE IT
Simply click on any product with a "try me on" icon and follow the simple steps.
YOUR "DOLL" GETS DOLLED UP.
This is fun! Harking back to childhood memories of styling up my favourite doll, I select from the products tagged with the easy to spot “try me on” and volia, my mini me models them for me. Simple as that. Plus there’s no queue to wait in or even a limit to how many items you can try on, unlike with High Street fitting rooms!
YOUR VIRTUAL MIRROR DOESN'T LIE.
Your avatar mimics your proportions, skin and hair tone, so you can see how the clothes might look on you when worn. Want to check out how a neckline sits on your bust or whether a length works for your height? Easy! It’s also a great way to try new trends and build confidence. I love the new Collection by Evans floaty yellow coat. But does the colour look good on me? It looks great on my mini-me avatar, so that’s a big yes. But the pale pink blazer I try on her next just washes out her complexion: disaster averted.
DID I MENTION YOUR VIRTUAL MIRROR DOESN'T LIE?
When shopping for something new, you want to make sure you look good from every angle. My Me-Model rotates 360 degrees; there’s no craning over your shoulder to see if the look works. Yes, my bum does look good in this.
SIZING IS NEVER A PROBLEM.
The virtual fitting room lets you know how each garment fits on your shape. It tells me what size to buy and details how it will fit on my bust, waist and hips. The parameters suggested are: fit, close fit, large fit, too big or too small. My size – UK18 – sits a little snugly under the arms on a jumper I tried. That indicates I should try a size up for a better fit and ensure I have a purchase I’m happy with.
NO QUEUING AT THE TILL.
Once you’ve selected the pieces you want to buy, you’re informed of delivery time. Then you simply add to your basket and click through to pay.
IT'S LIKE SHOPPING IN-STORE FROM YOUR SOFA.
This self-confessed technphobe is a convert. Try it for yourself as a tool to help you shop, it’s user-friendly – and it’s lots of fun.
