meet our people

Nikki Macdowell – B&M Finance Manager

I joined Arcadia in late 2008 as a Buying and Merchandising Finance Manager, having previously worked at Warner Music. I trained as a Chartered Accountant in an accountancy practice but always wanted to work within the retail industry and for a company that I felt passionate about, for that reason I was really excited to join Arcadia.

My current role is focused on the financial aspects of the product we sell; the margins we achieve when buying it, how it is merchandised in store, our stock levels, and future sales forecasts. I have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people across the brand up to Director Level and help influence important decisions. Working in a retail environment is fast-paced with new challenges daily; no two days are ever the same!

Coming into Evans at manager level at first seemed a bit daunting, but everyone was so friendly and helpful that it felt very comfortable right from the start. There is a lot of experience within the brand and people are approachable which has been fantastic for my development. Evans has a really good team spirit; there is a lot of cross-functional involvement including social events and charity fund raising. Career progression within Arcadia is great too; you are encouraged to move to new roles to gain experience of all areas and with eight brands there are many opportunities to do so.
