Breakthrough Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer affects 41,000 women each year. And because evans is all about women, that’s a cause that’s close to our hearts.
That’s why we’ve chosen Breakthrough Breast Cancer as our chosen charity for 2008. As well as funding vital research, Breakthrough are dedicated to raising awareness.
The charity has established the UK’s first dedicated breast cancer research centre. The Breakthrough Toby Robins Breast Cancer Research Centre at the Institute of Cancer Research, in association with The Royal Marsden Hospital, has over 85 world-class scientists and clinicians working in a coordinated effort, aiming ultimately to eradicate breast cancer by discovering the causes of the disease, finding methods of prevention and developing new treatments.
In 2007, we raised £110,000 for the charity, with activities ranging from sponsored walks to specially designed nightwear. This year we aim to raise even more and have lots of exciting things planned to help us to achieve it!
Give As You Earn
Give As You Earn is a simple, efficient and flexible scheme, which allows Arcadia employees to donate to any charity of their choice by a direct deduction from their wage. All donations given in this way are tax-free so the charity receives the donation and the tax you would have paid on the amount.
Presently 70% of the UK’s population gives to charity, but over £900 million per year is being lost by charities, as they are not receiving the tax on these donations. Through the Give As You Earn scheme, the donation is worth at least 28% more to their chosen cause.
